How to read a result
Vemphy reports what an issuer has recorded about a document. It gives one of four answers.
Valid
The issuer named on the result signed this document, has not withdrawn it, and it is within its dates. Check that the details shown match the paper in front of you.
Revoked
The issuer signed this document and has since withdrawn it. Ask the holder for a current one.
Expired
The issuer signed this document, and it is now outside the dates it was issued for. Ask the holder for a current one.
Unknown
The registry has nothing under this code. That is all it means.
Why Unknown does not mean a document is false
Many issuers do not use Vemphy yet, and their documents have no record here.
A single mistyped character gives a different code. Vemphy catches most slips before looking anything up, but not all.
If the answer is Unknown, ask the issuer directly, using a phone number or address from their own website.
What Vemphy does not tell you
Vemphy shows what the issuer recorded. It does not check that the person holding the document is the person named on it.
It shows only the details the issuer chooses to disclose. Compare them with the document.
It does not judge the issuer. It tells you which issuer vouched for the document, by name.
About screenshots
Every result carries the time it was checked and a four-character check code. A screenshot shows an old moment. Check the code yourself: it takes seconds.
